According to an article from Bloomberg,The World Bank-led Mission 300, launched in 2024, aims to provide electricity to 300 million Africans by 2030 and has already connected over 50 million people across 40 countries.
The initiative addresses Africa’s major energy gap, where about 565 million people still lack electricity, by financing energy projects and mobilising at least $90 billion in investment from public and private sources. Tanzania, Ethiopia, and Nigeria are among the main beneficiaries.
Supported by the World Bank, African Development Bank, and other global partners, the program has already secured significant funding and driven national energy plans in 30 countries.
It is intended to accelerate electrification and support economic development, healthcare, education, and job creation across the continent.
